First Kiss
Yesterday was a fairy tale kind of day - not only because of the enchanting costumes the kids wore for our backyard photo session but because a certain little dragon learned to kiss for the first time. Frankie learned yesterday to kiss and has not stopped doing it ever since! The simple action of a child's kiss, often taken for granted by most parents, has been one of the hardest tasks to teach Frankie. Forget about the endless opportunities to teach him how to choose, point, ask for things and the infamous eye-contact - the kissing part was just hopeless for us. Rebecca got creative and taught him how to do "eskimo" kisses and he learned to rub his little nose against ours; this was just enough for all of us and we settled. Then, yesterday, the miracle happened and he just kissed me on the cheek. Just like that. He kissed me and he surprised himself at the very action he had mastered and most of all: he liked it. He liked it so much that he is kissing everything that moves and what doesn't move either. We can mark this off in our "To Learn" list but the job is not complete yet...now we are working on saying "I love you" to go along with the kissing!
